
Layla Grace’s Story.
The extraordinary 2-year-old Layla Grace has sadly has lost her battle with Neuroblastoma cancer. In her short life this brave little has managed to both touch and inspires the lives of others. Layla’s story has touched people deeply in Houston and the rest of the country.
Stars such as Ryan Seacrest and Eva Longoria sent out tweets on Twitter in her honor. She especially lived within the embrace of a loving family who are heartbroken over the lost of her life.
Once appearing to be the picture of perfect health, Layla’s health almost over night took a turn for the worst shortly after her 15 month check up. Her appetite was noticeably different caused initial alarm. However, it wasn’t until the desperately ill child woke up one morning with a swollen eye that her parents took her to hospital but did not discovered the extent of her ailment.
Doctor’s attending to the young child treated her for a suspected ear infection assuring her parents that the swelling of the eye would subside once the ear infection cleared up. Sadly, Layla’s condition only continued to deteriorate. Layla’s mother returned the ill child to the pediatrician after a weekend when Layla complained of soreness in her abdomen area.
The concerned pediatrician referred the troubling condition to a GI Layla’s family initially thought her condition to be a severe case of constipation and loss of appetite. It soon became clear that something far more serious was ailing the child. On Thursday May 7th in GI specialist’s office Layla’ parents were told that she suffered from Cancer and Leukemia.
After a gamut of X-rays and tests were conducted the child was sent home with her family to wait for the results. Later that evening the family received an urgent call from the GI specialist confirming the test results. They ordered to take the child into an ER immediately where they would be met by a team of doctors organize to treat the child.
The test results confirmed that the 2-year-old had a massive cancerous tumor (Stage 4 Neuroblastoma) in her abdomen spanning from above her left kidney, around her side, over her belly and wraps around her aorta. The cancer has also spread in her bone marrow.
Layla’s parents learning the full extent of her suffering could not comprehend how in a span of a week their healthy child went from content to suffering with cancer and pain.
