How To Apply Eye Make Up For Brighter Eyes
How To Apply Eye Make Up For Brighter Eyes
For women who love to makeup and pay good attention to their facial skin, applying eye make up is quite simple and straightforward, once you know how to do it the proper way by following a simple step by step procedure.
Many women don’t make enough time to beautify their eyes. They are used to a quick dash of eye shadow on their eyelids, and a fast sweep of a mascara applicator across their eye lashes, smudges and all, and they think they are good to go. Not exactly so, unless you are a makeup artist who has the ability to apply eye make up in as little as 5 minutes.
Eye Make Up Tips
A woman must pay more attention to her eye make up because it doesn’t matter how well applied your concealer, foundation, blusher etc. is, if eye make up is not used or applied properly, it can make ‘nonsense’ of your entire facial makeup. To keep your eyes looking bright and beautiful during the day, and glamorous and sexy at night, the following tips are useful to help you achieve great looking eye make up.
Wash your face as you normally do, with a facial wash or your usual product and lightly moisturise it with a water based moisturiser. Its good to use an oil free moisturiser in order to ensure smooth coverage of facial and eye makeup.
Applying Eye Base To The Eyelids
Apply an eye base to the eye lids. It need not be anything pricey, as long as its an eyelid base cream. Using a base is the top secret of long-lasting eye makeup as it ensures that eye shadow lasts and stays in place for hours on end
How To Apply Eye Shadow
The next step is the application of eye shadow. To apply eye shadow the right way, you must apply the makeup beginning from the eye lids and work it up to the brow line (brow bone). Its good to note that for day time application, subtle eye makeup colours must be used sparingly especially if you are a career woman or depending on your daily activities and your professional standing. For night time eye makeup, a three toned shadow can be applied as long as each colour blends into the other where they meet on the eyelids and above it. Begin with the lighter shade using a colour that close to your skin tone. Sweep the eye make up across the eye lids and take it up to the brow bone.
Next apply a medium colour across the eyelid alone, then build up on this gradually by applying the darker of the three tones along the crease lines between the eyelids and the brow. Now, softly blend the colours with a soft eye make up brush or use an applicator with a small spongy tip.
Eye Makeup: Applying Eyeliner
After the application of the eye shadow tones, you then proceed with applying an eyeliner . There are liquid, pencil and the powdery types of eye liners (Kohl). Eyeliners are meant to dramatise the eyes, however it is suggested that the pencil or powdery ones such as Kohl be used for daytime makeup.
Liquid eyeliners are more appropriate to wear at night. Darker shades of eye shadow can also be applied as eyeliners. To use this the right way, just dip a small tipped wet eye brush in a dark shade of eye shadow and line the top eye lips starting at the inner corners of the eyelid and carefully tracing the line to the outer corner. In a similar fashion, proceed with the bottom of your eyes, but this time lining from the centre of the eye lip to the outer corner of the eye.
And if you want a little drama, gently smudge the bottom liner with your fingers. Gently, using your ring finger which has a softer pad than the other fingers and thumbs.
Eye Makeup: Using A Highlighter
A highlighter adds brightness to eye make up. Use a highlighter such as a gold or pink to draw a V shape that follows the inner eye corner from top to bottom. This application is for the inside part of the eyes only. You can highlight the brows using the same colour by dabbing some on the brow bone area. Apply this from the middle of the brow bone and work it outwards. Blend it gently using your fingertips.
Using An Eyelash Curler
Now is the time to curl your eyelashes. If you are naturally endowed with long full eyelashes, using an eyelash curler will make the eyes look sexier and glamorous. However, if you don’t have lush ‘lashes, for the curlers to work effectively, warm them with a blow dryer for about 10 seconds, test that it’s not too hot, then use them to curl the lashes and keep them in shape with a light application of mascara.
Makeup For Eyelashes: Mascara
Placing the mascara applicator at the base of your lashes, first sweep lightly back and forth until there is a slight build up of mascara. Next, sweep the applicator brush from the bottom of your lashes out to the tips slowly and carefully to avoid unsightly smudges. Continuing with this upward motion, apply more mascara until your lashes look longer and fuller. In the same sweeping and base to tips motion, apply mascara gently to the lower lashes.
Applying eye makeup is not as difficult as it may seem and shouldn’t take more than five minutes, and as long as it is done methodically and slowly, you are assured of a perfect and professionally applied eye make up.
